Weigh-In...

I know it's been a while, but seeing the numbers going up instead of down is a bit of a downer.

Ok, here we go:

Current weight: 181.4
Difference: +3.5 lbs

Well, it has been almost a month since I last weighed in, by the way, sorry about that guys! But know that I do keep track of my weight at least 4-5 times a week and write it on my calendar. You could use a pocket calendar to keep track, too!

I have to make a reminder for myself every Tuesday to post my weigh-in. Have you ever heard about what happens to pregnant women's brains? Mush-city! I have a short term memory of about 1 1/2 minutes.

Take care now!

Difference from last week: +3.4 lbs
And so the gaining begins...

I hope everybody's doing great! The next podcast is coming in the next few days, I'm having the hardest time titling this episode :-).

If anyone would like to post their progress...

Because my weekly progress of pregnancy changes on Tuesday, I've been using that as my weight tracking day instead of Friday. So, I'm going to post my weight gain starting tomorrow, because I really, really, want to keep the gain down as much as I can (of course, without it being unsafe). I just don't want to gain 50+ pounds like I did before. So, join me, won't you? I would love to hear how you are all doing!

Have you guys been weighing every day? If you have, has it been helping with keeping track of how your body reacts to different situations and foods? Let me know, I would like to revisit the subject in the next podcast.

Take care!

My, my, how the week does fly by!

But, I did do my weigh-in yesterday!

Current weight: 173.9
Change from last week: -1.9lbs.

How'd you guys do?

I've been getting last minute things together for Christmas, and I still have a ton to get done! I'm going to give you an incredible recipe in my next podcast, the only catch is that it's not lite, it's not diet, it's definitely not sugar-free, but it's amazing! We deserve a treat every once in a while. But more about that soon!!!

Have a great Saturday!

Episode # 10 Show Notes

String Beans Oo-La-La

20 oz French Cut String Beans
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
3 Medium onions
3/4 cup water

Cook onions with just a spray of Pam if needed slowly (on low flame) until carmelized (brown and sweet). Cook string beans seperately. In casserole dish, combine soup and water, then add string beans.

Add 3/4 of the onions. Cook at 350 for 30 minutes. Top with the remainder of onions and cook for another 5-10 min.

1 point per serving (makes 8 servings), or about 50 calories.

Daily Weighing:
I told you that I would show you an example of one of my weeks of daily weighings, it's very interesting. And I can look at my book to see what I ate on particular days if I'm confused about a particular weight.

Day 1: 178.5
Day 2: 178.7
Day 3: 175.8 (ok, if I were only doing weekly weigh ins, and I did on day 2, how discouraged would I have felt?)
Day 4: missed
Day 5: 176.4
Day 6: 176.6

This is just to illustrate that your weight fluctuates every day. I like knowing what my body is doing much better that hoping for the best and crossing my fingers on weigh day.

I any of you try this, let me know which way you prefer.

I know a lot of you are afraid of the scale, but this is more than just a number, this is understanding how your specific body works and reacts to food, exercise, and your efforts.

Take care!

Ok, here we go:

Current weight: 175.8

Episode #7 Show Notes

Truths behind Deprivation

I wouldn't feel so strongly about this subject if it didn't come back to bite me so many times in my dieting life. I think that this is a big thing that we have to understand in order to let healthy living become a permanent part of our lives.

Here's a link to the pedometer I bought. Let me know of any others that you use and like.

Omron Pedometer

E&T Recipe # 7 - Suprise Reuban Sandwich

2 slices lite whole wheat bread
1 oz thin slices Hillshire Farms Pastrami
1 oz swiss cheese (I LOVE Lorraine swiss)
sauercraut (as much as desired)
PAM

Heat up skillet and spray one side of both pieces of bread with PAM. This will be the side that gets fried in the pan.

Pile on your ingredients and cook on a low flame until heated through, the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted. Eat with a side of golden mustard.

WW Points - 4

Just record yourself on your computer, save it as an mp3, and email it to me at skinnyshack@spellacy.net. That way I could include your comment in my podcast and respond to you then. How about a weigh in?

I've decided that my weekly weigh-in will be implemented to my blog, and with some courage, to my podcast as well.

But here is where you all out there come in, I would LOVE to make an announcement of YOUR weekly weight-ins. By no means do they all have to be losses, this is a real podcast and blog. They are about the real story, ups and downs.

So if you all would back me up, I'll start this. Let's say we start this on Friday. I'll post my weigh-in, and anyone else can, too. Then I'll announce all your progress and mine in the next podcast, but only if you want me too. If you would just like to post your weigh-in, great! No pressure!

This is to make sure I stay accountable to myself. And I love doing it with friends!

I'll be making this announcement on my next podcast, so give it a listen!

Thanks a bunch!

I wanted to thank you for the wonderful reviews I was given on Itunes. It's great to get feedback, so I am always on top of what you all need, because it's usually just what I need, too!

I'm already getting stuff together for my next podcast, so if there's anything that you guys want me to address, please let me know.

As always, stay strong with me, and allow yourself a little treat for Halloween. This is about living, not depriving. Depriving doesn't work, it makes you binge!

Give yourself some leeway and don't take things too seriously, relax and enjoy the socialization of Halloween. Rent a good spooky movie and enjoy some lite popcorn, a hershey bar (skip the almonds :-)), and some raspberry seltzer (in a champagne glass, of course)!

We can do this!!

I check for comments all the time, so if you are having a Halloween weakness, send me a comment, we'll get through it!

Gonna try somethin' new...

Ok, so I've got a little bug on about sprucing up this "resource" for weight loss. I'm not technically up to date when it comes to web developing, that's my husband's field, but I want to help you all as much as I can. I am going to learn how to add the links to the things that I talk about on my podcasts and I'm going to keep my recipes here, too. It'll be like a Bibliography of every podcast.

So what to do you think? Maybe as time goes on, I'll add a recipe section. And maybe if I get really motivated, and I can coerse my husband to build it for me, perhaps a forum will be in my future!

Ok, so I am going to start it from this next podcast, but if any of you want some information from previous podcasts, just let me know, I'll be glad to give them to you!

Welcome to The Skinny Shack...

...where you go to get the skinny on gettin' skinny.

Hi everybody!! My name is Beth and I am starting a new, exciting and informational podcast about weight loss. But more importantly, it's about the journey through weight loss, MY journey. It's a real story, about real problems of life that shove their way in to wreck your losses. I'm going to discuss all issues that come about in my life and your life. I really want this to speak to all those who are suffering from "post traumatic diet disorders". WE ARE DONE WITH DIETS!!! Losing weight for life is about so much more than dieting, it's about customizing a lifestyle to you and only you so that it will work, always.

So, please keep posted to my blog and I will have my podcast ready to go for you very soon!
